At Future Net, we go beyond just developing point-of-sale (POS) software.

We provide retailers with a complete solution that simplifies operations, both front and back of house. Our all-in-one approach includes software, hardware, and dedicated support, so our customers never have to call anyone else.

The story so far…

Rose,  Barry, Eddie, Scott and Shannan cica 1998.

Future Net was founded in 1995 by Scott Munro and Barry Sams, who, after working for a POS hardware vendor, recognised a fundamental problem: when registers failed, the finger-pointing between hardware and software providers left retailers stuck in the middle.

Scott and Barry set out to change that by creating a business that provided a full-service solution—software, hardware, service, and support—all under one roof.

Their goal was simple: one solution, one team, one call.

Soon after, Eddie Bertinat brought his programming expertise to the team, allowing Future Net to tailor solutions for independent grocery stores like IGA, SPAR, and Foodworks, along with specialty retailers including leading butchers, bakers, and delis.

Later…

Michael Wyllie joined, bringing extensive experience in hospitality POS systems—his applications are industry standards used throughout Australia.

Together, Scott, Barry, Eddie, and Michael have built a comprehensive, user-friendly POS solution that meets the diverse needs of retailers and hospitality providers alike. And had some fun along the way.

They may have a long history together, but they continue to remain Future focussed.

In 2024 Future Net was acquired by Banyan Software marking an exciting new chapter for the founders and their families.

Banyan, founded in 2016, specialises in acquiring and growing niche software businesses with a long-term vision.

Joel White

Chief Executive officer

Joel joined Future Net as CEO in 2024. He brings to the team 20 plus years experience building tech businesses. He has the industry knowledge and contacts to guide Future Net forward.

Rohan Bertinat

Head of Operations

Rohan had his first Future Net email address at 6 years old. As Eddie’s son, he quite literally grew up alongside the company. With insider knowledge like no other, it’s safe to say he knows how things work around here.

Zoe Bertinat

Accounts Admin

Has an educational background in Criminology & Psychology, years of experience working in retail and experience in fraud protection. Having also birthed the next generation of Bertinat’s she is a vital part of the Future Net family.

Kris Simpson

Head of Engineering

Kris is a dynamic tech lead and software engineer with extensive experience in both onshore, remote and offshore team management, project delivery and business process improvement. With a proven track record in driving operational excellence through process refinement and high-quality code implementation he is the person you want on your team (or the other end of the phone) when something goes wrong.
